While I've been painting nearly all of my life, the last time I took an art class was in high school when I created a pretty unspectacular still life with pastels. I spent the last twelve years of my life pursuing things that I considered "practical" and painted/crafted as a hobby. After the birth of my son, my life changed dramatically and painting became more central.
My hope for this site and my art is that it would enable people to take a little piece of Louisiana with them where ever they go. The friends I had growing up have scattered to the wind and I know that life does that--takes us away from our homes. Red Bean Dream represents that feeling you get when you need a little piece of where you grew up, so you cook red beans and rice on a Monday even though you live in Kentucky.
